This closure is to start on the 25th July 2019 and to finish on 3rd Sept 2019, I know we have been here before, the last time work was cancelled due to safety concerns around the schools on diversion route, therefore in order to address these concerns the bulk of the works will take place during the school summer holidays.
Further measures to increase safety are to include a 20 mph speed limit and ‘no waiting’ along sections of the diversion route that need such a requirement.
Should the works run over the dates specified (very possible), the ‘fall back’ option will to be reduce the road closure down to single lane so as to reinstate traffic flow under traffic lights. These works are required in order for SGN to replace and/or reinforce sections of the Gas main.
The extent of the closure will be from Bunces Lane to the Reading Rd/Hawksworth Rd Roundabout, the diversion route will be via Recreation Road, School Lane, Clayhill Road, and Hawksworth Road (back into Reading Road) and this route reversed.
