Committee Structure

COMMITTEE AND SUB COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

Environment and Recreation Committee
The Environment and Recreation committee meets on the third Thursday of each month, but not during August or December. This committee focuses on issues such as litter collection, appearance of hedges and road side verges, highways, recreation area maintenance, policing and management issues at the Willink Recreation Centre. The Committee also embraces the two allotment plots on the Common and Hatch areas.

Finance and Compliance Committee 
The Finance and Compliance Committee meets every three months, the main purpose being to monitor the internal and external audit reports and to ensure that the financial business of the Parish Council is conducted within the various legislative boundaries.

Planning Committee 
The planning committee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month, but not during August or December, when special arrangements are made. This committee gives consideration to all the planning applications within the parish council area submitted to West Berkshire District Council, and monitors decisions and appeals.
Delegated responsibility is given to the Committee Chairman to deal with minor applications.

Village Hall Management Committee
The Management Committee meets as and when required, taking into account that the responsibility for the day to day running of the Hall is vested in the Hall Manager, Catherine Redding. Catherine is responsible for all hall lettings and the related administrative procedures.

Parish Plan Committee
The Parish Plan Committee was established in order to oversee the compilation of the Parish Plan and the Village Design Statement. The work of the Sub Committee has resulted in the publication of the Parish Plan, a document that has been very highly regarded. Future work of the Committee is to ensure that the goals set for the Parish Council, are met where and when ever possible.

Youth Forum Committee
The Committee has been formed in order to develop a relationship with the younger parishioners.The intention is that a Youth Forum, consisting entirely of youngsters, will be developed to provide information in regard to the views and aspirations of the youngsters. The accommodation for the Youth Club held at the Village Hall on Monday evenings is paid for by the Parish Council. The interests of the young people of the parish will continue to be examined with a view to providing solutions to the many issues that this age group poses.

Communications and Parish Liaison Committee

Burghfield and Mortimer Neighbourhood Action Group 
Not a Sub Committee of the Parish Council, but a Partnership Meeting set up in conjunction with the Thames Valley Police, on which the Parish Council has two representatives. Burghfield was selected as one of 16 areas for the introduction of the National Police Reassurance Project, and has been involved in revised police activities in a combined effort to reduce local crime and also the fear of crime.
